Dr. Joe E. Ellis has been in private practice since 1986. He attended Murray State University and received his professional training at Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, TN. During his training he was selected as the Outstanding Senior Clinician in 1986.

During his professional career he has been awarded the Young Optometrist of the Year (1992-93) and the Optometrist of the Year (1995-96) awards by the Kentucky Optometric Association. Also, he has served on these American Optometric Association committees, Environmental and Occupational Vision and State Government Relations. He has served as president for the Kentucky Optometric Association and past Kentucky Trustee. Dr. Ellis’ practice was awarded the Marshall County Business of the Year in 1998.

In 1994, Dr. Ellis was the first optometrist in Kentucky to receive extensive training of the pre and post-operative care of refractive surgery patients in Windsor, Canada, where refractive surgery was pioneered in North America.

In 2001, Dr. Ellis was elected by his peers to serve on the Board of Trustees of the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Ellis resides in Benton, Marshall County, Kentucky with his wife and their three daughters.
